Double whammy at Düsseldorf
This has been a wonderful day today - a lot of things came together and the way it worked out was an indescribable feeling. For the first time I’ve been wearing the racing colours of my employer Auenquelle stud. I was a bit proud after all it does not happen too often that you can put on the silks of Auenquelle as a girl.
I was riding Molly Le Clou in an weight for age-race over 2.100m. It was supposed to be a new start for the gelding. Everybody in the yard likes this horse – he is a real looker. My trainer told me on Tuesday that I would ride Molly on a longer distance with a new rider – maybe this will help. On the racing day I was even more surprised as the coach didn’t give my any orders. He just told me: Rebecca do what you like, he just needs to have fun again on the racetrack. I guess we had a dream race. In the straight there was a moment I had a doubt - when we passed the leading horse I was wondering does Molly go on or not? But he wanted to go on, he wanted to win. There is not more to say. Molly really earned it and it was a rather easy ride. Thanks coach for letting me have it.
In a Handicap Class IV I was booked on Sakima for Axel Kleinkorres. In 2015 I did rid Sakima on his debut for a different trainer. But today he was a very different horse. The order I got was easy to implement. From start to post we were never in danger, I knew pretty early that we will get home. It was only my second ride for Kleinkorres and already one win – what more do you want? Thanks for the ride as well.
A lot of people did congratulate me – by phone, SMS, FB oder Whats App – you have to note: Horses make the rider ;-)
I also do appreciate the way the Auenquelle did support me - you’re fantastic and I’m really happy about that. We all watched the German 1000 Guineas where my buddy Alex finished on a good third place with Arazza. To top the day we had dinner at a Chinese and I’m just happy today – about my team and my rides!
