Neuss: Two wins with Ivor's Fantasy and Lunar Prospect
Today was certainly more than just a good day. After morning workouts, I drove to Neuss for the race day with the idea in mind that if everything went well, I could perhaps take home a place money with Ivy. Then things went much better than expected— they even turned out fantastic. Two mounts, two victories, what more could you want ;-)
Trainer Sarah Weis and owner Eckard Gabriel had trusted me with Ivor`s Fantasy again. Some thoughts I had before the race: Distance a bit too short and good horses in the field, everything has to go well for us. And then everything went very well: From third position we had a smooth race and how Ivy drew clear in the last furlong was simply great. He gave it his everything with perfect timing. Such a great fighter!
Then came the first leg for the “Perlenkette “ - a racing series for female riders, both amateurs and pros - and I was back in the saddle of Lunar Prospect for trainer Mary Berrevoets-Uivel. Lunar has been my partner for some time now, and Mary keeps me even when we place low. Mary always says, “I know my horses and I know my riders.“ That's trust! Given the previous forms, I had no expectations, maybe a place money. I had discussed with Mary that I would stay out of trouble because we thought it would be a fast race. And then the going of the race was a dream for us, but what Lunar Prospekt showed today surprised everyone, including me. He played with everything I demanded of him and suddenly threw himself into the game in such a way that I thought what is going on here right now? And then he puts up such a fight! At our canter after the race, I already squeezed tears away because I was so touched. The 10-year-old more than deserves this victory.
