Runner-Up with Jarak

I had only one ride today at Dortmund but I was pretty confident that we would play a leading role in the race. I was booked on Jarak by trainer Maria Nienstädt. He is not an easy chap he has his own head. In the end we finished runner-up - another good place with him but again not victory. I know this already from last year. I did take a while before we scored for the first time. I can’t complain but we just did not manage to get hold of the winner. I don’t know why – we had a dream race, everything went according to plan - apart from first place.

But I was still happy with second place as Jarak made a good run. He is a horse full of character and he always plays up a bit before the race. But after today I would say that he trusts me now. Nothing to worry about, everything was plain sailing - all this in front of a big crowd in Dortmund. But I like horses with character who notice that they can trust the rider. I think the combination works and thanks to the trainer for seeing it the same way.

To be based in Oberhausen is perfect, everything is in easy reach - 50 km to Cologne, Dortmund or Neuss, 30 km to Krefeld or Düsseldorf and Mülheim directly in front of my doorstep. I really do value this. I’m now with Jens Hirschberger and Gestut Auenquelle for almost two months and I can say I made the right decision. It is a top, well organized team and a pleasure to work here every day. I’m very happy to be part of it.
