Dortmund: Third place with Fuscano

On the final day of the season2016 at Dortmund I was booked for three rides and they turned out as expected. For the Belgian trainer Dymphna Engels I did ride Boccacina again in handicap (Agl. IV, 1.950m). Judging from my last ride I was sure the distance will be to much for her. But after the race I have my doubts. She did much better than her 6th place reads. We will have to see. I did talk to the trainer and told her my ideas.

My hope for the evening was Fuscano, trained by Uwe Schwinn, in another handicap (Agl. III, 1.950m). I wanted to be in the thick of things with him and I can't say anything bad about his performance. I knew there are two or three strong opponents in the race. Trainers order worked perfectly for me. Fuscano was always there but he was just not as fresh as two weeks ago. I had to keep asking him during the race. In the end we did not have a chance to reach the two leaders but third place is a good result. Fussi always runs true and the owner and trainer were happy with him and me.

Again for Dymphna Engels I rode Sans Concession in a weight-for-age race over 1.800m. It was the third start for the filly. The distances between the horses were huge but on a sand track this should not be overrated. I think seventh place is ok, she will improve with more experience.

My former trainer Andreas Lowe, who I worked for a long time, today had his last runner and winner. Congratulations my dear trainer - I will always remember very fondly the good time I had at your yard and I'm very glad to have worked with you. Thanks very much for that!
